gcloud alpha kms keys set-primary-version - set the primary version of a key
gcloud alpha kms keys set-primary-version KEY --version=VERSION [--keyring=KEYRING] [--location=LOCATION] [GCLOUD_WIDE_FLAG ...]
(ALPHA) Sets the specified version as the primary version of the given key. The version is specified by its version number assigned on creation.
The following command sets version 9 as the primary version of the key samwise within keyring fellowship and location global:
$ gcloud alpha kms keys set-primary-version samwise --version=9 \ --keyring=fellowship --location=global
- KEY
Name of the key to modify.
- --version=VERSION
Version to make primary.
- --keyring=KEYRING
Key ring of the key.
- --location=LOCATION
Location of the key.
These flags are available to all commands: --access-token-file, --account, --billing-project, --configuration, --flags-file, --flatten, --format, --help, --impersonate-service-account, --log-http, --project, --quiet, --trace-token, --user-output-enabled, --verbosity.

This command is currently in alpha and might change without notice. If this command fails with API permission errors despite specifying the correct project, you might be trying to access an API with an invitation-only early access allowlist. These variants are also available:

$ gcloud beta kms keys set-primary-version
